  Anyone noticed a curiosity on the Memorial Invitation for 2013 ?

  i can't scan the memorial invitation for 2013, but i was looking at it today and noticed something curious on the front drawing.. we have jesus as the central figure of the composition.

  to his right and bottom, a large crown, in colour, of shiny happy people of diverse origins.. separated from this by the figure of jesus, is another group, a much smaller one, on the left and as if ascending to the top, and grayed.. clearly portrayed in this group is the face of ct russell and apparently william tyndale.

  but then, also sarah and abraham and other personalities of the ot seem to be represented there.

  was beardlessness. Romans converted to Christianity would very likely

  continue in the Roman custom, while converts from the Jewish community would continue in the Jewish custom of wearing a beard.

  If early Christians could follow the customs of their time and locality then why do female witnesses have to follow western fashion customs from the forties and fifties and still cannot wear trousers?

  Who pioneered with the promise of having 'Jehovah provide' and ended up dirt poor anyway?

  i ask this because the wt always bangs on about if you trust in jehovah and make that leap into pioneering, you will always be provided for.

  at the time i joined the cult, a friend was continuous aux.

  I discovered double standards were rife too.

  When I was working I always offered to take pioneers to save their fuel. When I was not working and pioneering they reasoned they may as well come with me and save their petrol because I was going out anyway! I had no job and 2 kids to feed!

  How does the WTS mine quotes for their "scholarly inspired" articles ?

  ive seen a few threads discussing misquotations, including the quote about roman times taken from a book of fiction.

  apologies but i cant recall the author or the book mentioned but im sure others will know what im talking about .. so how many books do they read to find these quotes ?

  they must b e buying a lot of apostate books just to find a worthy quote.

  as we all know, reaching a believing jw is difficult, maybe impossible.. i've tried many years of reasoning before i realised that reason isn't something they really understand, and science is something they can brush off with a wave of their hand.

  now i'm going to prepare very succinct examples of their blatant quotemining and somehow get one of them to read it, then ask them why purveyors of the truth need to use lies to support their claims.

  maybe i'm too optimistic but i'm hopeful this might have some effect.

  I did!

  When I was out of work it was suggested I use the time for pioneering and at the the end of the month Jehovah would reward me with a job. As a single Mum with 2 kids I really did believe He would, but he didn't.

  The following month I spent every single day job hunting and that is how I eventually got one!

  Who would get baptised if this were asked? I would have because I did believe that at the time. We had one elder describe the Sunday Watchtower Study as "our personal letter from Jehovah"!

  my parents became jws when i was 9 yrs old.

  My eldest became an unbaptised publisher at 10 and her younger sister was about 8.

  There was no pressure for either to get baptied and I would have resisted it if there had because even as a still very much in dubby I disagreed with children being baptised until after their rebellious stage.
